Salt Cleaning - Restaurant Desalt
RESTORA DESALT is a mortar that provides cleaning by applying the extraction method, which guarantees an effective salt removal process on natural stone, brick, masonry walls and plastered surfaces exposed to contamination with soluble salts, at a depth varying depending on the porosity and structure of the surface.
Its basic principle is based on the use of pure water to facilitate dissolution and the movement of soluble salts to the surface through prolonged contact with the surface for application (in this case, the product has a high capacity to store and retain the water solvent). The paste used for application contains natural materials such as high-purity cellulose, ensuring its suitability for use on a variety of natural and artificial stone surfaces.
The mixture does not contain any chemicals that could damage water-soluble materials or the applied substances. Furthermore, the product can be easily removed from the surface after extraction, leaving no residue that cannot be removed by gentle scrubbing.
RESTORA DESALT is suitable for the extraction of soluble salts from natural and artificial porous stone materials (natural stone, plaster, brick, mortar, concrete).
The effectiveness of the product and the depth of its purification effect depend on the type of surface and the porosymmetric distribution of the application surface.
Surface Preparation
Remove all surface residue by hand-brushing with a soft-bristled brush. In particular, remove salt efflorescence and dust deposits. This will prepare the surface for the removal of soluble salts.
NOTE: It is recommended to first perform diagnostic tests on a specific area to determine if a salt efflorescence inhibitor and/or water repellent product is present on the surface (e.g., wax residue, polymer-based preservatives, film-forming paint, or similar materials). To increase the effectiveness of the application, spray the surface with distilled water and wait 15 minutes to allow the water to penetrate the pores.
The application time is typically 48 hours. However, it can vary depending on the substrate type and the degree of contamination. To optimize the application time, we recommend applying the paste to the surface and performing conductivity measurements on the saline solution extracted from the paste samples taken at regular intervals. After the extraction process is complete, the dried paste containing the extracted salts can be manually removed with a spatula. You can use a soft-bristled brush or a soft, damp sponge to remove surface residue.
